Instead it's the image of Wesley's ear and neck so close that opens the conversation, the wall in front of them squeezing him between it and Aegon. It's so unexpected that it takes Petre a while to understand what he's looking at. Passersby will stare at him suddenly standing still in the middle of the street, brows pressed together, wondering many things — namely what the fuck could have caused Wesley to make such a threat.

Neither of them know that both have torn Petre with claws and teeth, their monsters brought out by something that poisoned their minds and hearts, caused by someone or something else. He's become used to that, so seeing this invokes feelings that it probably shouldn't.
